Open Issues
The basic vision is known, and some tasks as well, but we need to be more clear about what tasks we're taking on this round. Plus, this should be reviewed by the stakeholders, most notably Mats.
Vision
LSB 3 was based on glibc 2.3.4, and the kernels available at that time. Several new features in newer kernels and compliers are reflected in glibc 2.4, along with some changes to type sizes on some architectures, and these have been requested by some ISVs.
In keeping with the plan of targeting the current distros with LSB 4, we plan to add glibc 2.4 features to the standard, so they can be used.
