Several ISVs have expressed interest in using compilers other than gcc to product LSB-compliant executables. The two compilers most mentioned: Intel's compiler, and the Portland Group (PGI) compilers.
An Intel employee did the work to make lsbcc work correctly with Intel's compiler a while back, but no regular testing is done to ensure it still works. And nothing has ever been done with the PGI compilers.
As an ISV request, we should ensure that lsbcc can work with these two compilers.
A rough proposed schedule for this project. When we anticipate that we will reach certain milestones. Also, if the project has an absolutely-must-be-completed-by date, mention it here.
| Milestone | Plan Date | Outlook | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acquire licenses for all the compilers needed. | 6/1/2008 | In Progress | Intel compilers acquired; negotiations with PGI in progress. |
| Test the Intel compiler. | |||
| Make the changes to get the PGI compiler working. | |||
| Set up regular automated regression testing against the Intel and PGI compilers. |
No resources have been dedicated to this project.
No hardware has yet been dedicated to this project. For now, testing will be done on individual developer machines. Before this project is complete, we will need to identify machines to run the regression tests on.
