No where here is a word about package configuration. Other than removing it. This is not a suitable. Take most windows installers user can configure package on install. This is a flaw in rpm. Fine have a default but if its more security wise to configure on install provide that option.

Also providing a configure interface or interfaces allows centalising. Current problem with debian is that is configure system is console only. Web X11 and console are require min. Some common engine between all three would be ideal.

Also no clean mention about building packages from source. This will be important to getting ebuild systems onboard for opensource development.

LSB should not only be for comerical ISV. There are opensource ISV's that are driven just as nuts by the current package setup. Both need to be covered. --oiaohm1
