SAN FRANCISCO, June 3, 2013 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced its mid-year individual membership drive and promotion that offers a 50 percent discount for LinuxCon/CloudOpen North America or LinuxCon/CloudOpen Europe registration when individuals sign up for membership during the month of June.
From June 3-30, 2013, new individual members of The Linux Foundation will receive a 50 percent discount off of their choice of LinuxCon/CloudOpen North America or LinuxCon/CloudOpen Europe. With savings worth up to $337, this discount can pay for the $99 membership fee three times over.
Individual members of The Linux Foundation help support the work of Linux creator Linus Torvalds and other important activities that protect and advance Linux and open source software. It is the collective support from thousands of individual and corporate members that helps The Linux Foundation provide important services for the industry and community.
Members also receive a variety of exclusive benefits, including a Linux.com email address (e.g. email@example.com); employee purchase pricing from Dell, HP and Lenovo; 35 percent off O’Reilly books and e-books; and a variety of other discounts to attend events, subscribe to industry publications, and to shop at the Linux.com Store.
“We’re only able to offer these kinds of discounts to new individual members twice a year so we encourage people to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer services at The Linux Foundation. “We’ve also never been able to offer this deep of a discount for a member’s choice of LinuxCon/CloudOpen North America or LinuxCon/CloudOpen Europe. We are so happy to make these perks available to the individuals who power Linux with their support.”
