Support from Industry Heavyweights and New Asian Members Signal Strong Growth for Linux
San Francisco, Aug. 13, 2015-The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux and collaborative development, today announced that Alibaba, DCHQ Inc., MediaTek Inc., PayPal, and Wuhan Deepin Technology Co. Ltd are joining the organization.
Linux has become the de facto means of collaborative development in recent years, with no signs of slowing down. Today’s new members show how global and ubiquitous Linux is, from container-based solutions and virtual banking to the lightweight computing solutions of tomorrow. Organizations pick Linux for rapid innovation and optimal performance and stick with it for its dynamic, inventive community, which will meet in Seattle at LinuxCon/CloudOpen North America and ContainerCon Aug. 17-19, 2015.

Aliyun, the cloud computing business of Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA), was established in September 2009. It develops highly scalable platforms for cloud computing and data management and provides a comprehensive suite of cloud computing services to support the participants of Alibaba Group’s online and mobile commerce ecosystem, including sellers, and other third-party customers and businesses. Aliyun is also a new Xen Project Advisory Board member.
