SAN FRANCISCO – NOVEMBER 1, 2023 – Fintech Open Source Foundation (FINOS) along with Linux Foundation Training & Certification have announced two new financial services industry focused certifications and two new training courses.

For Open Source Readiness, FINOS’ initiative to improve adoption of open source in the financial services industry:

The Financial Desktop Connectivity and Collaboration Consortium (FDC3) standards are created and used by leading organizations across the financial industry. FDC3 enhances interoperability between different applications and systems used in financial workflows. By adhering to FDC3 standards, financial professionals can seamlessly share data, launch applications and collaborate in real-time, ultimately streamlining their workflows and improving overall productivity in the industry.
FINOS Certified FDC3 Practitioner (FCFP)
The FCFP certification demonstrates understanding and command of the FDC3 standard to colleagues, leaders and prospective employers. Designed for technical business analysts, software developers and FDC3 implementers in the finance, insurance, banking and investment industries, the FCFP demonstrates the ability to deploy FDC3 concepts in real-world use cases.
Developing Solutions with FDC3 (LFD237)
Designed specifically for developers, this course prepares IT professionals to develop applications that leverage FDC3 standards, the competency to build and publish FDC3-enabled applications and the ability to define their own custom contextual objects and intents.
FINOS Financial Services Certified Open Source Developer (FSOSD)
Developers passing the FSOSD certification will have demonstrated an understanding of the key concepts underpinning open source consumption and contribution, including licensing, ethics, community collaboration and open source tooling in the financial industry. They will understand the regulatory framework within financial services and how this intersects with open source in areas such as communication policy, data protection and intellectual property law.
Open Source Contribution in Finance (LFD137)
Designed specifically for developers, this course teaches social media rules, publishing norms, component integration, security and bank regulations for seamless open source contributions enabling developers to contribute to strategic open source projects in the finance industry.
Those who successfully complete a certification exam or course receive a certificate of completion as well as a digital badge. Course participants also have access to discussion forums where they can interact with experts in the field as well as fellow course participants.
Both courses are currently open for enrollment at training.linuxfoundation.org. The two certifications are currently in beta testing, interested IT professionals can sign up to be notified when the certification exams are generally available by visiting FSOSD or FCFP.
