SAN FRANCISCO, February 2, 2016 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today is announcing confirmed keynote speakers, plenary sessions and a first look at conference sessions for Open Networking Summit, taking place March 14-17, 2016 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Keynote and Plenary Session speakers confirmed to date include:

Networking, which has traditionally been dominated by proprietary hardware and software systems, is increasingly moving towards more open source adoption. With this trend expected to continue in the coming years, Open Networking Summit is a must-attend event for those contributing to this major industry transformation. Open Networking Summit will provide in-depth technical sessions covering the topics most critical to advancing this work, including sessions for those developing, deploying, managing, and relying on open source networking systems.

The keynote and plenary session speakers will focus on the trends having the biggest impact on open source networking today. This includes topics related to software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), business issues, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about this new era in open source networking, with session topics covering all aspects of the 2016 event theme of ‘Develop, Integrate, Deploy’.

“Open Networking Summit will bring together the top-level operators, service providers, developers, vendors, and executives steering the open source networking revolution,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation. “The Linux Foundation is providing the neutral forum for this movement with ONS and through its networking projects like ONOS, OpenDaylight and OPNFV.”

Session highlights include:

  • Using SDN and Connectionless for IoT Devices, Anna Cui, AT&T

  • Container Network Interface: Network Plugins for rkt, Kubernetes and Beyond, Brandon Philips, CoreOS

  • The Road to Open Network Management, Anees Shaikh, Google

  • SDN Controlled VNF Forwarding Graphs Multi-vendor PoC – Lessons Learned, Linda Dunbar, Huawei; Myo Zarny, Huawei; Cathy Zhang, Goldman Sachs

  • Exploration of Large Scale Virtual Networks, David Wilder, IBM

  • ONOS and OpenDaylight: Crossing the Chasm, Mathieu Lemay, Inocybe Technologies

A preview of the conference sessions taking place at the event are being announced today – over 50 sessions – with the full schedule of 100+ sessions to be announced in the coming weeks.

On top of the unrivalled educational opportunities presented to attendees, Open Networking Summit provides the chance to meet and network with the community. Events include an exposition hall with more than 50 exhibitors; two evening receptions; the Visionary Theater, which offers even more informative content during lunch breaks; the S3 Solutions Showcase, a demonstration of collaborative multi-organization solutions at the bleeding edge of open source SDN and NFV; the return of the SDN Idol live product demonstration competition; and more. ONS will also feature co-located CORD, ONOS, and OpenDaylight mini-summits, an OPNFV hackathon, plus tutorials to be announced soon. Additional details on social and networking activities will be announced in the coming weeks, in addition to other special events focused on community diversity and helping bring new members into the community.

Registration is discounted through February 12 and includes full access to all Open Networking Summit sessions and activities. Please visit http://opennetsummit.org/attend/registration/ to register.
