GenAI 2024 Survey: How is your organization deploying generative AI?
The Linux Foundation | 21 August 2024
The use of generative AI is exploding across the business landscape. To understand how organizations are investing in and using generative AI technologies, LF Research, CNCF, and LF AI & Data are conducting a survey that investigates use cases, challenges to adoption, and the role of open-source solutions. Do you have some familiarity with how your organization is using genAI tools? We want to hear from you!
To thank you for completing the survey, you will receive a 30% discount on a Linux Foundation e-learning course or certification.
What to expect in the survey
The survey focuses on the importance of and investment in generative AI within organizations, exploring key areas such as the number of professionals dedicated to generative AI and how critical it is to an organization’s future. Questions examine the percentage of the IT budget allocated to generative AI strategies, the impact of these investments on revenue, and the effect on employment levels. It also seeks to identify primary use cases for generative AI, ranging from code generation to healthcare, and assesses the current stage of deployment, business integration, and impacts such as cost reductions, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
The survey also explores key considerations organizations have when selecting and adopting generative AI models or tools. These include accuracy, performance, cost, security, privacy, ease of integration, and the importance of open source. It also explores primary concerns such as ethical issues, regulatory compliance, customization, and technical challenges. Additionally, the role of open source in AI infrastructure is examined, including the extent of its use, future expectations, and contribution levels. The survey also addresses the significance of using open source tools hosted by neutral parties, and how organizations view factors like transparency, trust, collaboration, and governance in AI adoption.
The additional survey topics explore perspectives on the future and impact of open source AI, including its role in promoting equity, innovation, security, and customization. Respondents are asked about their beliefs on whether open source AI will become the industry standard, its advantages over proprietary AI, and the associated risks. The survey also addresses priorities for open source AI projects, ranging from security and data governance to education and performance. Other areas include the use of various generative AI modalities, model-building techniques, hosting preferences, infrastructure motivations, and the individual productivity gains from generative AI. It also seeks opinions on the future direction of AI, including the rise of smaller models, edge computing, and regulatory needs.
