Speaker

Julia Lawall is a senior researcher at Inria Paris. Previously, she was on the faculty of the University of Copenhagen. She was one of the original designers of the Coccinelle program matching and transformation system that she has been maintaining for the last 20 years. Coccinelle has been used in thousands of Linux kernel commits, to find bugs and to perform widespread modifications. Following the evolution of the Linux kernel, there is now a version of Coccinelle for Rust. Currently, Julia Lawall's main interests are on the correctness and performance of operating system code. In this, she is primarily focusing on the scheduler. Julia Lawall is a former coordinator of Outreachy for the Linux kernel and has mentored a number of Linux kernel interns. She has been a member of the Linux kernel TAB since 2024.
