LFX Enhances Data-Driven Collaboration Management
The Linux Foundation | 13 October 2022
This year, the Linux Foundation rolled out a new and improved LFX, a powerful cloud-based solution for members and projects to foster productivity in communities of open source innovation. Our vision for LFX was to build a collaboration portal for open source projects, filled with project metrics and integrated with all areas of the community's experience.
Today, we’re pleased to announce that LFX has released an updated version of Insights. We’ve greatly expanded features and improved the user interface to include additional global analytics and over 50 new dashboards. Our latest version of LFX Insights provides 360° visibility on activities across 850 projects and thousands of members in the Linux Foundation ecosystem.
The new release of LFX Insights gives community members an even greater look into project performance and community health, to help guide and inform key business and project planning decisions.
Here are the new features at the heart of LFX Insight's latest update:
Organization Contribution Index
The new Organization Contribution Index is a public leaderboard that aggregates data from various tools in LFX, highlighting an organization's impact on multiple projects. It enables the LF community to benchmark their organization against others in the Linux Foundation ecosystem.
Over 15 new dashboards provide actionable information on the level of engagement in Linux Foundation projects, events, training, certification, and webinars. Project Trends reports also include dedicated metrics about code contributions, contributor growth and retention, lines of code added or deleted, and more. Member organizations and project managers can better understand how their projects perform against others and identify opportunities to streamline operations.
Event, Training, and Certification Reporting
The new LFX update improves the management of competencies in open source projects. Additional dashboards enable member organizations and project managers to monitor how their projects relate to the most popular event, project meeting attendance, training or certification topics, and overall participation trends.
LFX dashboards provide projects with the tools to identify how they can expand the knowledge base and expertise within their organization and among project team members.
The new Event Attendee analytics display whether in-person event attendance is increasing or decreasing and can be used to gauge an organization’s activity level.
The new Training and Certification dashboards track the most popular courses, the number of enrollment and certifications, and the organizations with the greatest participation.
Linux Foundation Membership Analytics
The new Membership Analytics feature enables member organizations to measure what top competitors are doing, and which organizations are shaping the technologies that your organization depends on. More specifically, the tool clarifies which organizations are participating in a particular project and their degree of engagement.
Furthermore, the new dashboards break down the number of organizations actively supporting projects, new members to join projects, organizations involved by industry sector, and most popular projects.
