WasmCon 2024 Moving to November 11 & 12, co-locating with KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America in Salt Lake.
The Linux Foundation | 01 May 2024
After careful consideration, the Linux Foundation and the WasmCon Program Committee have decided to reschedule WasmCon 2024. Originally slated to take place June 24 & 25 in Seattle, WasmCon will now be held alongside KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America this fall in Salt Lake City. The new dates for WasmCon 2024 are November 11 & 12.
This was a difficult decision and we’d like to share the key factors that played into it. Spring 2024 has been an exhilarating period for WebAssembly, marked by the hugely successful Wasm I/O conference and Cloud Native Wasm Day. With the January launch of the WASI 0.2, developers across the ecosystem have been hard at work adopting and implementing this new foundation, and we are hearing from the core Wasm developers that there is a bit of fatigue at the moment.
Moreover, we have witnessed a significant surge in interest from the cloud native ecosystem, indicating a profound alignment with WebAssembly's goals and capabilities. By bringing WasmCon to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon, we aim to bridge these communities, fostering an environment where ideas and innovations can flourish.
To all of those that submitted to speak at WasmCon, rest assured that we will be carrying those submissions over to the fall. The Call for Proposals will reopen on May 15, and will close again July 8. Those who previously submitted will be able to make edits to their submissions if they’d like, and we will also be accepting new submissions during this period. Additionally, are happy to provide feedback to those that have already submitted.
At WasmCon, together with the broader Kubernetes community, we will explore new frontiers in building scalable, efficient, and secure applications. Taking place on the Monday and Tuesday before Kubecon + CloudNativeCon kicks off, this two day event will replace CloudNative on Wasm Day with a much broader and comprehensive event.
We are enthusiastic about this new chapter and confident that it will provide our attendees, speakers, and sponsors with an even more enriching experience. Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm. We look forward to building a better future together at WasmCon, November 11 & 12 in Salt Lake City, UT, co-located with KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America.
Warm regards,
The WasmCon Program Committee and The Linux Foundation
